June - October 2005

June, 2005

June has been a whirlwind of activity for White Space, a Chicago-based professional organization firm. The news of being named a winner in the Make Mine A $Million Company program has resulted in very positive response from clients, banks wanting to aid in the company's growth, and opportunities to expand the company's business in at least one additional market; New York City.

The credibility provided by Count-Me-In and OPEN from American Express has had an incredibly positive impact on our future growth.", said founder Cynthia Ivie. "We always believed in the need for our services and the growth potential for a company providing organizational services in a professional manner. Now, everyone else does."

Ivie and her M3 coach have recently completed the 90-Day Plan. Strategy sessions with her Dream Team are scheduled and Ivie is thankful for the focus provided by the 90-Day Plan. "There is so much opportunity immediately available to us right now, if it weren't for the 90-Day Plan, I wouldn't be so confident of which to pursue first."

July, 2005

July was a fast-paced month and follows what was our highest grossing revenue month in two years. July found White Space completing the office reorganization at Count Me In in New York City. Master Simplifier, Cynthia Ivie, and Architect of Simplicity, Karen Ng, were particularly pleased with the final result. By simply rearranging the office layout and grouping individuals with closely connected functions in closer proximity, we optimized space while affording individuals the opportunity to communicate more easily and more readily with each other. No new furniture was required and we especially enjoyed the newly erected shelving featuring the various products and services of women served by Count Me In.

While in NYC, White Space also reorganized the offices of Fox News anchor, Brian Kilmeade. Initially reluctant about the project, Brian became very excited with the final result and the new spaciousness and ease of his office. The project was taped for broadcast later this Fall.

"Make Mine a Million$ Company" has opened numerous and tremendously exciting opportunities for White Space. We may have eventually come to the attention of FOX on our own, but with the marketing power of OPEN from American Express and Count Me In behind us, the future has taken new, dynamic turns towards impressive growth opportunities. We have altered our staffing structure to optimize staff availability for Prime Time projects while increasing the company's profitability and enabling our employees to control their time to a greater extent. CMI's CEO, Nell Merlino, has helped us identify an opportunity for very rapid national growth that was previously elusive.

I can't capture in these few words the impact M3 has had on White Space!

August, 2005

August has been a mix or old and new opportunities.

First, we have made return visits into the homes and offices of clients we had previously served. Nearly 50 percent of our clientele at White Space is project-based; we assist them in getting on track and organized and they maintain it until further development is needed.
It's always a strong confirmation of the company's vision to hear a previous client thinks of White Space first when Life begins to spin out of control. It's been rewarding, too, witnessing the exciting changes in our clients' lives; new partnerships, career changes, new babies, etc.

White Space has opened some exciting new doors, as well. We are actively in discussion and proposal process with several impressive high-end boutique real estate developers about utilizing White Space to coordinate and manage all new residence relocations. We are also scheduling presentations and meetings with a select group of real estate offices throughout the Chicagoland area to market our relocation services.

We are also having great success in the entrepreneurial market, assisting small businesses that are 4 to 10 years old with revenues in the range of $500,000 to $2.5 million. These firms value our ability to help them systematize their processes and streamline functions; all of which enable them to grow and enhance their bottom line. One client equated her $4,000 investment in White Space to an additional $90,000 in revenues for her firm.

We have utilized the slowness of the weeks leading up to Back to School, to lay plans for some dynamic and targeted marketing for Fourth Quarter 2005/First Quarter 2006. We have launched a targeted email campaign to clients and key contacts to raise our consistent presence on their radar screens. We are also working on some additional elements for our web site, including a blog.

In September, White Space will increase its presence in NYC in three ways:

1) we've attracted two new clients based in Manhattan,
2) the office reorganization for one of the anchors at Fox News will air during the later half of the month, and
3) Cynthia Ivie, Master Simplifier, will moderate a panel on financing at the Small Business Summit sponsored by the NY Times and OPEN from American Express.

August continued the strong upward trend in revenues which propels the company and its development plans in the Fall in a robust manner. The M3 program has brought focus and intention to all our activities in an unprecedented manner. This adjustment alone will propel White Space through the million dollar revenue ceiling.

September, 2005

September has been a whirlwind month of PR opportunities and growth for White Space. As a result of the M3 win and the questions from American Express, I have become an avid student of my company's financial history. The learning curve has been steep and much needed, as I have studied cash flow, profits and losses, and developed budgets for the next five quarters. We've realigned line items within our Balance Sheet to more accurately reflect the company. It's been a more dynamic learning experience than any classroom MBA could have provided. I've been impressed by the resilience of White Space to transcend the tough lessons and tough times in the Small Business growth and development curve. We restructured the staff last month to carry less payroll overhead, boosting our profitability while protecting cash flow. I began exploring innovative marketing ideas for White Space. We're developing a BLOG and considering IPOD casts which can be down-loaded from our web site to help potential clients assess their own states of disorganization and the need for our assistance. We also began a series of Email blasts to our clients. The first announced our M3 award which generated much excitement from our clients on our behalf. The second announced a Fall promotion which afforded clients one free hour with each four-hour purchase. These incentive hours are to be redeemed between Thanksgiving and New Years when everyone can use an extra pair of hands. All of this should all impact the bottom line dramatically in coming months, and without great cost to White Space. Our visibility as a company not to mention mine as It's founder has been dramatically elevated this month as the following occurred:

- I moderated a panel at the Small Business Summit sponsored by OPEN and the NY Times. The esteemed panel of financial experts discussed cash flow management issues and I discovered that I knew more about cash flow management than I previously thought.

- On Monday, September 26, White Space was featured in Crain's Chicago Business on the cover of their Business of Life section.

- And on Wednesday, September 28 I taped an in-studio interview on FOX News Fox & Friends program with anchor Brian Kilmeade. OPEN's PR firm, M Booth, had arranged for White Space to organize Brian's office earlier this summer. He was a terrific sport and said his life is much easier since White Space reorganized his space. The segment will air in the coming weeks. And, we may get a similar opportunity with additional members of the news staff at FOX. Thank you, OPEN, for making this exciting project possible.

- White Space is featured in the cover story of the next issue of TIME OUT Chicago magazine. The article highlights solutions for cramped city apartments with little storage.
Overall, It's a very exciting time at White Space. Revenues are rising dramatically and many exciting growth opportunities lie ahead for Fourth Quarter and beyond. I am humbled by the boost the M3 award has given us.

October, 2005

October brought the airing of our organizational piece on FOX National News program, Fox & Friends. MBooth and OPEN arranged for White Space to organize the offices of Brian Kilmeade, one of the anchors. Brian was a terrific sport about the project and White Space accomplished great feats in his office. And Brian reports that his day-to-day life has been made easier since White Space created systems for him. Yes, his office still looks almost as neat as the day we completed his project. After being bumped by various national news stories since July, the piece on White Space and the M3 program finally aired on October 10, Columbus Day. White Space was overwhelmed by emails within the first hour after airing. What a great way to begin a Monday!

We have several new clients in Chicago as well as NYC and Virginia as a result of the piece. Count Me In also witnessed a tremendous increase in hits to their web site as a result of the piece. Thanks, OPEN and MBooth for the exposure. White Space has been elevated to a new level of clientele since the M3 award. We moved a television personality and company president into her new home and as a result will be organizing the offices of her and the company chairman. These two offices are a "test program" and the success of the project will result in White Space providing office organizational services for the other 95 members of their firm.

We have successfully established a strategic alliance with a luxury housing developer in Chicago and are moving the two founding partners into their new multi-million dollar homes in January. This alliance will result in White Space coordinating and relocating residents into nearly 100 new homes in 2006! A relationship forged within NAWBO (the National Association of Women Business Owners) has also resulted in White Space being awarded the project to organize the mailrooms and central workrooms within a major Midwest bank in Chicago. Overall, revenues are up 48% vs. 2004 - an impact that has been generated since June 1 and on the heels of the Make Mine a Million award. The visibility generated and credibility of being recognized by OPEN and Count Me In is so significant that our plans to break through the $1 million revenue ceiling in 2006 seem almost too easy. We're now laying plans for national expansion which would not have been possible this early in our development without the M3 program. Thank you!
